One of each! 1 pandemic, 1 nationwide system change and 1 renovation. Sometimes surprising, sometimes overlapping and always challenging. In our video, we tell you how we've experienced the last 1.5 years and how excited we are to be back.
Pandemic
We knew in March 2020 that our building was being refurbished and that we would be merging our catalogue with around 500 academic libraries. Therefore it made sense to register the whole team for the workshop "Successfully dealing with change". This was postponed several times, for well-known reasons. We all learned how to deal with change ad hoc and applied it practically right away. We didn't need the course after all.
System change
The nationwide library system change on 7 December 2020 was planned for since 2017. Around 500 academic libraries merged their catalogues, couriers and user accounts. The closer "GoLive" came, the more people were involved - until finally the entire library team was confronted with new systems and processes.
Refurbishment
For the first refurbishment phase in summer 2020, we moved our offices into the temporary container next to the library building and set up a service point, all whilst complying with pandemic measures. Came autumnn we were back in our usual place for a short while. Due to the operational restrictions of the second pandemic wave, the renovation was spontaneously brought forward and in March 2021 we moved with the Service Point to the basement of the library building. With significant relocation experience and enormous flexibility, we are now back on the ground floor.
